The Solution
Put kids, communities and common sense first.
Put kids, communities and common sense first. The best way to ensure that alcohol products are sold responsibly to adults, and not our children, is through a face-to-face transaction. Such transactions establish an essential chain of custody for alcohol access and they keep local officials in the loop on who is selling and buying alcohol in our communities. They also ensure that local law enforcement can act to hold accountable those who break the law.
The National Medical Association (NMA), which represents more than 26,000 physicians in the United States, has recognized the risks linked to underage access to alcohol through the Internet. “Elimination of the face-to-face transaction in alcohol sales is a great risk to public health and if left untreated the risk can escalate into a full blown public health crisis,” said NMA officials.
